On Thursday 21 January 2021, the first meeting of ‘Men who foster’ group took place virtually.

Foster carer, Simon, is leading the group with support of supervising social worker, Dumiso. The idea of the group is for male foster carers to get together, support each other and identify any training needs. All with a cup of tea and a biscuit, of course!

The first session had five attendees and it was a really positive first meeting. The group got to know each other and it was agreed that:-

  • Membership would be voluntary and flexible
  • The purpose is to share experiences and skills, maybe invite a speaker to deliver training
  • The meetings will be flexible. They could be breakfast or dinner meetings or meetings at the home of a foster carer who has a large house. They could also be on Zoom or Teams.
  • The next meeting will be Thursday 18 March, 7.30-830pm via Zoom and we hope that more men will be able to join us.

If you’d like to join the group, please email Dumiso. We hope to see more of you there in March.
