Last week, we were proud to launch our first ever podcast. This week, we’re sharing our second episode. Here’s one of our young people in care talking with our foster carer about suggestions on how to make a new child in their care feel safe in a new environment. It’s a really insightful conversation.

Our podcast story: Back in February half term, our Children in Care Council (CiCC) got together with one of our newly approved foster carers at the Readipop recording studio in Reading. The idea was to find a new way of sharing our fostering stories so more people in Reading can understand what it’s like for our children and young people who are in foster care.

‘It was a good experience going to Readipop to do the podcast. I think that the whole point of foster care is to have an emulation of a ‘normal’ childhood with a ‘normal’ family. But if you keep moving from one foster home to the next, then you just don’t build a bond with any foster carer.’

Our young people in care want us to find more foster carers in Reading so that they can stay locally, in a stable home, where they belong. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in finding out more about fostering, find out how you can help below.

…This is fostering.
